In this chapter, we learn about the eight families and their leader. We learn that the leader of the research team, a man named "xiao sheng," was responsible for the creation of the eight powerful pieces of crimson equipment. Unfortunately, he died of alcohol, leaving behind his wife and daughter. The man's family name is "Xiao cheng" , which means "the proof of love." The man explains that he is the "proof of love" because he was born before the eight pieces were invented. He also explains that the men who are using the equipment now think he is keeping them because they were made by the same man who died 20 years ago. The two men discuss the meaning of the words "eight pieces of equipment" and the meaning behind "the eight major families" . The men decide that they will deal with the equipment as it comes.
