In this chapter, Caio'er's uncle, the village chief of Heyuan, delivers a soliloquy in which he criticizes the village's priest for his treatment of his granddaughter. The village chief accuses the priest of bullying the family, and he calls on the priest to bring xia Qingshan to the village. The uncle accuses xia of not having educated his wife properly, and of bringing shame upon the entire village.
