This chapter opens with a discussion between the patriarch and his son. The patriarch asks his son if he is his mother's father in law. The son answers that he is, but that the other men are not related to his mother. His mother, on the other hand, is their sister in law and has the same duty to care for the patriarch. This leads to a discussion of the family's shame, and the patriarch is shocked to learn that the family has no shame. His son, however, is not so shocked. He tells his mother that if she wants to ruin the family image, she should come and beat him up. He then tells his father that if he wants to split the family up, he should think twice before doing so.
