About This Chapter
The monster's father tells the monster that if it hadn't been for the villagers' interference, the monster would be dead. The monster begs the father to kneel before the village head and pray to the god of protection, but the father refuses to do so, saying that he's not kneeling. He says that if the villagers had not interfered, he would have been dead. He then kneels and prays for protection. The village head tells him that the monster has stopped attacking, but that they'll have to sacrifice three people to keep it from attacking again. The father protests that there are no other creatures around, and the monster says that it's totally different from the one they just saw. A gardener has died, he says, and that's why the monster is different. He asks his father to be the sacrifice, and he begs him to die three times, as long as the monster isn't him.
