The chapter opens with a woman on top of the doctor, asking him why she is not gentle. The doctor tries to comfort her, but she pushes him away, saying that he is getting too hard on her. He tries to grab her neck, but the woman does not want to be touched, and she shrieks at him. She tells him that women need to have needs too, and that he should sleep naked so that they do not have to worry about him. He tells her that she should have preferred to sleep in her underpants. The woman says that she is glad they did not go, because she is always being swept away by men who whisper to her and then to her. She asks where she is, and the doctor says she is at an atelier coffee shop, where she has not been in a while. He asks her why she does not reply to his texts, and when she replies that she has been to art school, he says that he has not seen her for a while, and he wonders if she is using a cloth to hide her butt. She says that the old ladies are not happy with it, but when she says that it means that she wants to know what the other person is thinking, he replies that he can never tell what the doctor is thinking. He says that when he does not like someone, it is easy to guess that they are thinking the way he wants them to be. When he likes someone, he thinks too much about what they want him to think, and this leads to a situation in which he is unable to stand.
