About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the first stage of the Prologue. The Prologue is a prologue in which the audience is introduced to the protagonist, the protagonist's friends, and the characters of the story. In this prologue, we are introduced to a number of characters, including the protagonist and his friends. The protagonist is introduced as "the single-minded, average boy" from "an average high school" , and we are told that the protagonist is a member of the "super high school level" team. He is also introduced as a "fast delivery" team member, which means that he delivers packages in a very fast manner. He also introduces the protagonist to the concept of "rapid delivery," which is a term used to refer to the delivery of packages on a bike. He explains that he does not race at the bike race tracks, but on "normal streets" . He tells the protagonist that he has won three consecutive victories in this season's Prologue and that he would be "admired some" if he were to become a professional cyclist. He says that he is not sure why the protagonist was not in his homeroom, but the protagonist says that it is a mystery how the protagonist could not notice that he was late for the delivery. He adds that it would be awe-inspiring if he could become a pro cyclist, and he says that if he did, he would "be awe-some." The protagonist replies that he will be right back when the customer returns with his order. He asks the protagonist if he is his first love, and asks if the protagonist would like to be his first customer. He promises to be back with the customer's order when he is ready. As the protagonist waits for the customer to return, he realizes that the delivery driver is using a motor-stoller to deliver packages. He exclaims that the driver must have been using a delivery-level motor-scooter because he is so fast. He wonders if the driver is in fact suing the delivery-driver for using such a fast-moving vehicle. He then asks the driver to stop the driver from running away. The driver, however, insists that he did not run away because he was using a "motor-scooter" to deliver the packages. The narrator says that this is not the first time he has seen a delivery driver using a moving vehicle to deliver a package. He notes that the narrator has been delivering packages for the store since elementary school, but he says he has never seen
