Act.3 opens with a conversation between the Governess and her daughter. The Governess is happy to be back at school and asks her daughter about her engagement. She tells her that she was afraid she would come to like her fiance, but she was troubled by the whole thing. She says that she likes her nursemaid, kiriko, but that she is in a prison where all her secrets and her desires are put into the shadows
