About This Chapter
The narrator returns home and finds that he has bought all of the things he asked for. He is impressed with the mess that the narrator made in half a day. He tells the narrator that he is going to take paid leave, either way. He asks why he took his pill this month, and the narrator says that he was looking forward "to our sexin' in heat." The narrator tells him that he knows he is still horny because he knows that the man is super drunk. The narrator asks him why he went to work today, and he says that it was a meeting he could not avoid. He says that his awareness of his paid leave is "way too low" and that he will not accept this punishment. He wants to know why he did not go to work that day, as he had planned to do so. He complains that he had thought they would have time off together, and then they were not even there. He tries to comfort the narrator by saying that if he were not drunk, he would have him crying out. He promises to make the narrator cry when he is not drunk. He then says that if the narrator were in heat, he could have gotten him pregnant. The two men part ways, but the narrator promises that someday he will have his child.
