In this chapter, we are introduced to the "snail" and his owner, the "Mr. Fox." Mr. Fox tells the "Snail" that he is going to free him from his master's clutches, and that he has nothing left to contribute to the household. He tells the snail that the spices in the baked snail are different from the spices that he used to use in the home, and the spices taste bad. Mr. fox, however, is not concerned about the taste of the spices, and insists that the "baked snail" will become tasty after he cooks the snail. He then tells the dog, "xiao qiu," to wake him up, but the dog is afraid of the rabbit's dogs, so he leaves the dog in the storeroom and goes outside to take the dog with him.
