About This Chapter
The next morning, Dr. Rivers and the other doctors discuss the progress of the mission. They're pleased with the progress, but they're worried that something is wrong with their patient's wound. Rivers tells the patient to come over to the tent and get some fresh air. He says that he's always prepared for anything, and that if it weren't for his wound, he wouldn't have been able to join the mission and fight the guerrillas. Rivers says that if the mission had gone on as planned, he would have joined the troops and fought against them. He's not worried about the mission at all, he says, because he doesn't want to waste his emotional energy worrying about other people.
