About This Chapter
The next morning, Bulgar wakes up in the middle of the night. He's been woken up by the sound of a bomb going off in the distance. He doesn't know what's going on, but he's pretty sure it's a bomb. Bulgar's got a headache, and he can't wait to get back to his normal life. He hears the command tell the troops that they've been delayed in their mission because of a surprise attack from the guerrillas. They're going to have to defend the zibel against the enemy, and if they retake it, they'll be in a good position to take back the upper hand, right? Bulgar is all, "Gee, sounds like a bomb just went off." He'd like to know what the heck's wrong with him, but the command won't tell him. He tries to calm himself down by asking the medics if something is wrong. The medics are all dead from the previous night's bomb attack, and they're all going to be taken care of by the enemy's medical team. He wants to go back to the hospital and get help for his leg, which is throbbing. He meets with the medical officer, who's nice, but she's not nice to him.
