In this chapter, we are introduced to Madame Bovary and Madame Pernelle, two young women who have just returned from a trip to the White House. They are on their way to greet the new President, but Madame Bogar tells her not to worry, as she will take care of the situation. Madame Bohar tells her that she is not the only one who has come to see the new president. She also tells him that she has come because she wants to meet him.
