In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist is a punk named Lin-Han. He's angry at his brother-in-law, wang, for using his sister, gaolou, as a pawn in his scheme to get wang to work harder for him. Worried that his sister is going to get sick, he tells wang that he's going to make sure that she gets the best possible treatment. He also tells him that wang has a way to help his sister. He tells shang that he can help her, even if wang doesn't care what happens to her, because she's his sister's only family left. . Lin-han tries to calm him down, telling him that he needs to treat him like a "fart" and release him from his sufferings. But wang won't listen to him, so he tells him to call wang's number if he runs into anyone who needs help from wang. He then tells lin-han that he has a place to eat after school, where he'd like to meet up with his friend, who is also a student at the same school. Unsure of what to make of this, he asks his friend to take a "hint" and "get lost" , so that he will be able to "increase his fortune levels" .
