About This Chapter
The next day at work, the narrator tries to convince his boss to stop flirting with Rosa, but he can't bring himself to do it again. He tells Rosa that he's made up his mind not to kiss her again. Rosa's grandmother is having a party for her family this weekend, and she wants the narrator to come along. The narrator says he'll pick him up at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and Rosa promises not to do anything to offend her like he did last time. She tells him that he could have brought Keira with him, but that he left him with his mother. Rosa says she's going to have dinner, but the food isn't great, so they'll have to have a drink. Rosa tells the narrator that her mother was an unmarried woman when she got married, and that she wanted a family without anyone in it. She wanted a man to be a father to her, but she never knew who his father was, so she doesn't know why he would want to be silly. Rosa points out that Rosa has a pretty young lady with her, and the narrator says that Rosa should be careful with women.
