This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which Cai Ming-liang's mother died of stomach cancer. The flashback reveals Cai Ming's relationship with his father, and the tension between Cai and his father. Cai's father has reconciled with Cai, and Cai is now able to call Cai his son.
