The next morning, Cyrano returns to his apartment to find that he has not received a reply from his wife. Cyrano wonders why he is not being more attentive to his wife's needs, and wonders if he is being a good husband by not being attentive to Cyrano's. He wonders if it is because Cyrano is so busy that he does not have time to care for his wife, and he wonders if Cyrano does not want to take care of his wife because he is afraid that she will be jealous of his attentions to her husband. He asks Cyrano if he would like to meet him in person, and Cyrano tells him that he will be glad to do so
