About This Chapter
The chapter opens in the attic of the shrine, where the servants are busy preparing for the New Year's Eve service. The servants are so busy that they don't have time to clean up the attic, and they wonder what they should do with the items inside. One of the servants, Ren-chan, shows them a scroll that he has made for the shrine. The scroll has a message for the gods, and the servants think that it's a message from the gods to them. They also think that the scroll reminds them of the one they used to pray for at the shrine in the olden days. They wonder if the scroll has been sealed, or if it has been opened by someone else. They decide that they'll have to wait until the new year to open the scroll. The servant, Tsubaki, tells the servants that he brought the nun to the shrine by mistake, and he apologizes for having brought her there by mistake. The nun thanks the servant for healing her mother's sickness, and she asks the servant to buy her a copy of the scroll so that she can read it. The maid says that she has the money for the scroll, but she doesn't want to go back to the nun's house because she's already met the other nuns. She wants to return to her old life.
