This chapter opens with a description of a "cursed doll" that has been asked to be "cleansed" by a priest. The doll, saniku, is described as a "master craftsman" who has been made by a "famous craftsman" . The priest tells the doll not to be rude to the doll's owner, as only "Japanese dolls can do" things like talk, move around, and grow their hair. The dolls owner, sakurachan, is shocked at the ugliness of the doll. She tells her daughter, yuzuchan, to lend her scissors and to "ly sparkle" her beauty, as the doll is "so fast, i cant keep up" with her makeup. She also tells nacchan to bring her sewing kit and to use her old clothes, as well.
