When Ling learns that her husband has been taken to the hospital, she begs him to let her and Nuo Ling leave together. He refuses, saying that he is his father and that they were meant to be a family. He says that his choice on the ship really hurt him, and that he sent someone to rescue him from the water. Ling tries to convince him that getting married to him was the best and most perfect choice, but he refuses to believe that he cannot give them both happiness. He asks Ling to stay and wait for him, so that he can decide whether or not he can give them happiness. Ling asks why they haven't returned yet, and Ling says that he has been back home, but why hasn't they returned yet. Ling tells him that he gave Lan three times as much as he gave him for his son in exchange for him. Ling is sorry, and says that she gave Lan to three in order to give him his son.
