In this chapter, we learn that the doll factory is being run by a man named Gu. Gu is a member of the clank family, who has come to live in the town of Clank to work as a doll factory's assistant. Gu has come with the idea of using the townspeople as his "clones" to help him in his quest to become a human being. Gu tells us that he came to Clank a year ago to help the town's residents in their quest to be like their own selves. Gu says that he has told everyone that the townspeople's clones will be able to do the same for them, and that they will not need to leave the town to work. Gu explains that he brought the idea to the townspeople because he wanted them to believe that their own lives would be like those of his own. He says that they have been deceived by the man who came to help them, who told them that their lives would not be like his own, but rather like the lives of other human beings. Gu blames Gu for killing all the people in Clank, and says that all the humans deserve this, because they are so piti-ful.
