The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night to find that his phone is off. He has just received a letter from the boss. The letter says that the girl he loves is dead. The narrator realizes that he has committed a "grave sin" when he was a child and has been missing for 30 years. He realizes that now he cannot run and cannot find a way to escape. He wonders where he is.
