Back at the orphanage, Dr. Bledsoe's assistant scolds Darnay for waking up so early. He tells Darnay that it's time for him to wake up, since he's been cooped up in the orphanage for a month. Darnay says that he owes the doctor so much money that he can't even repay him. The assistant tells him that he'll have to leave the flowers to Darnay's care, but Darnay welcomes him home. He's glad to see his brother back, but he feels a bit tired.
