About This Chapter
In this chapter, Hirokazu continues his story of his sister's journey to the moon. He explains that he bought a pair of hairpins from a local bead shop, which make him stand up when he is wearing them. When he is not wearing them, the beads make him look like his sister. He wonders if he will be able to see what is going on with the other passengers when they arrive at the moon, but he can't because he is so close to the stars. He tells his father that he has seen everything, and he is amazed that he can see his sister sitting on his shoulders. He also tells his mother that the bad guys didn't attack them before his fifth birthday, and that he is confident that his sister is strong enough to withstand the attack. He says that he will always remember the day when he realized that his real hero was his sister, who bore him in the heat and watched him stand in the sun for forty minutes. That day, he realizes, he was the real hero. He thanks his mother and sisters for making the journey possible.
