About This Chapter
Back on the International Space Station, the doctor tells the crew that Betty's blood has barely been collected since she left the station. They should give her a few days to recover, and then they'll figure out how to help her. The doctor tells them that he's asked the engineers to keep a secret the fact that he was so far away from Betty, so they can record the failure of the entire experiment. He's a great scientist, he says, and while he may be a doctor, he can't compare Betty to carlo. They're both trying to figure out what's wrong with the station, and the doctor says he'll be able to figure it out when he shows Betty his new face. He says that his research on the creatures he likes has already shown her a positive reaction, and now he wants to show her the real face of the creature. The crew says that they've finished the cable checks with the two astronauts, and they're ready to start repairing the station's damaged engines. They also tell the doctor that they have put together an "emergency project team" to help deal with the problem. The astronauts will be back in the station for two weeks, and it looks like they can use their one-way ticket back to the moon. The mission will be a success, says the doctor, and humanity will be stronger in space.
