About This Chapter
In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, a young woman named Najika. She is the daughter of a wealthy hokkaido couple, hagio and sensei, who have built a charitable institution called the "Lavender House" in order to raise money for projects in the community. The young woman, who is now 14 years old, has been running around the house, taking care of all the household chores, and has not been able to call on her father for some time. She tells the young man that she has had dreams about the fields in the town of Hokkaido, the smell of lavender, and the "smell of the nut" . He has rejected her, but she tells him that she is happy that he is her "usual self" and that he should think of her as his "best friend." The young man, however, is not so happy, and he tells her that he has had a bad dream about the "fujita diner" , a place in town where he is supposed to work. He asks her why she does not work, and she replies that she wants to be her usual self. He tells her to think of him as "my best friend," and she agrees. She calls on him from the lavender house, but he does not answer. He says that he just rejected her because she is "like family" to him, but that she reminds him more of his "real family" than his own family. She asks him what is up, and when he says that it has gotten busy, she says that the young woman is not young but that it might be "money problems." She tells him to hurry
