About This Chapter
The novel opens in Hirosaki's apartment, where Hirosaki and the other members of his company are waiting for the train to take them to the train station. The narrator tells us that he knew this was going to happen, and that Hirosaki was acting strange. He says that he doesn't like the way Hirosaki is acting, and he's not sure if it's because of her or because of the way she's acting. He also says that the train looked exactly like the one he drew in the previous chapter. He asks if he can meet with her, and she says that she'll have to leave her mother and go back to her school. She says that her fever is getting worse and that she needs someone to take care of her now that she has a fever. She's glad to be in the house, because she feels lonely now. She tells the narrator that she was worried about him, but that she likes him so much that she wants to meet him. She wants to bring a bag with her to the station, and the narrator says he'll carry a black bag with him. He tells her that he likes period dramas and that he loves her novel. She asks if she is radical, and says she is. She confesses that she fell in love with the narrator's character, and now she has to forget about her love for him. Before he joined the company, she'd never even been interested in a guy, but she sees him every day, so she can't really forget him.
