About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a flashback to the time yomi ruled over Japan. It's a long time ago, says the narrator, and it used to be ruled over by a goddess called "Nomito" . The narrator tells us that he hasn't seen the "young ogre" before, and he's not sure why they'd want to go with "buns" instead of "gypsy buns." The narrator says that the story of yomi's afterlife is a long one, and that the afterlife isn't a black hole like "a sci-fi villain" like "yamata" or "sanochi" , but rather a "moun-tain village" populated by people who live in the afterlife. He says that if the afterlife really exists, he'd like to make a sacrifice for the people who have died in the village. He wants to make sure that they're punished for their sins after they die. He's got no grudge against the villagers, he says, so he'll just say goodbye to them. He also says that he needs to collect signatures for the "Yomi reformation proposal" and turn it over to "Queen izanami" because they'll never be able to die again. He adds that if he had been Hozuki's aide when he first came to Japan, hell would be even stricter than it is now. However, one day, she gave birth to a baby boy and died giving birth to "the god of flame," which means that she's now dead. He tells the narrator that he can't wait to kill the 1,000 people in the kingdom every day. He compares hell to the judicial system in China, and says that
