About This Chapter
Don't worry, girl, she's fine. She'll be okay, she says, because she'll survive in a lake below. The problem, says Don Juan, is that the skin starts to peel away and the gas from the body starts to build up, making it look like a dead body. He asks Don Juan to help him, and he promises to finish him off in a second. Don Juan says that he's not even at his "maximum speed" yet, and that's because he hasn't hit his maximum speed yet. He tells the girls that they're "low ni life" and that they do all this to help fix the world. He says that the guy who made them pass out didn't even have a finger on them. He was just trying to prepare them for something special. The girl says that she doesn't know what's going on, but Don Juan points out that she means nothing to them, and they'll have to wait until they've reached their "limit" before they can do anything more. They're not going to wait any more, he says. He's got a ring on his finger and he can't shut it off. He wants to know what the heck is going on. He calls for help, but the girl says no one is there to help, and the ring won't go off. She says that they should tell her no one's there, because the signal has been cut off, and it's weird that they haven't brought anyone along to help. He promises to check on the situation, and then they can use her later as a hostage.
