About This Chapter
It's the end of the first half of the second half of this chapter, and we're about to find out what's going down between the opposing high school teams. In the middle of the action, we find out that the opposing team is leading the game by a single goal with only a few seconds left in the half. We learn that the coach of the other team is trying to get his team to stop the game, but that's just not going to happen. The other team has a chance to tie the game up, but the coach decides to let the game go to penalty kicks instead. This is the first time that we've seen this happen in the book, so we don't really know what to make of it. But we do know that this is going to be one of the most dramatic scenes in the entire book. The coach decides that it's time to call off the game and let the players know that they're still in it. The players are shocked, and the coach tells them to calm down. She tells them that they can still win the game in penalty kicks if they just hold onto their lead. They do, however, and marco slips through the defense and scores the winning goal in the dying seconds of the game.
