About This Chapter
It's the middle of the second half of the third game of the Yokohama Tri-Cities Super Cup, and the game is tied at one goal apiece. Mishima is back on the pitch, and he's defending like a man-against-the-world. The other players are trying to steal the ball away from him, and they're being called for a foul on Razdan, who's on the receiving end of the same call. The whole team is worried about what's going to happen to the game, and Mishima's worried about how he'll defend against them. He's also worried that the ref will call a foul against him, too, because of the way he plays the game. He remembers when he was a young star on the national team, and how everyone cheered him on. He wonders if it was destiny, or something, that made him such a great player, but Mishima doesn't know. He says that he'd be happy to coach for him on the Yokohama team, but that he can't be a good fit for the likes of Razdan and Masada, who are "power houses." Mishima says that if all he wants to do is "kick the ball around," then the sooner he gives up, the better.
