The next morning, Huck wakes up to find Dong asleep on the ground. Huck tells Dong that he's tired and needs to get some sleep. He tells him that he can't sleep at all because he'll wake him up when they get to the prison. Dong tells Huck that he was imprisoned, but that he wasn't allowed to leave the prison because he was poisoned. Huck says that's just the way it is. He's a bad guy and a jinx to his master. He says that maybe they shouldn't have met each other. Huck asks Dong to count the number of slaves that have escaped from the prison, and Dong says that they've escaped because of his carelessness. He adds that he still has a lot of ways to let the slaves surrender, but he only has one condition: he doesn't want to hurt Dong's chances with the pda. The pda, Huck says, rubbed his face in the face when he saw him, and now he has no way to escape. He wants to have a good time, too, and he wants to be loved, too.
