About This Chapter
The next time we see him, he's in hysterics. He doesn't know what to do. He's drugged her so that she can't win, and now she's dead. He wants to get on the stage for the next performance so he can be the one to blame. He tells us that he'll be the first to blame if the body is found. He says that if it's found, he will have no choice but to walk out of the theater. He also says that he was the one who drugged her, and that's why she didn't make the performance as well as usual. It turns out that he killed her before the first performance, so now he can blame him for her death. He goes on to say that if the murderer is hiding among the workers, he can only be the person who's responsible for making sure that the props are kept in place. He adds that he followed all of his instructions to keep a close eye on the workers who were released, and he found that the murderer was acting "furtively" . He tried to leave the city the day before, but he was arrested. He asks why he has to apologize for killing someone, and the answer is that he "overwhelmed everything . . belonging / He or she
