About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's going to buy a robot cleaner and a maid to help him clean up his house. He's also going to take care of a case, so he'll be home soon. The narrator says that it's time for him to get back to work. He says that he can't wait to go back to his father's house, but that he needs to get some work done before he can go back. He tells his father that he is at his godfather's place now, and that he doesn't know whether his father died or not. What remains of his house, he says, is "just wreckage and debris." The narrator is shocked to see that someone is doing some kind of plastic surgery in the city. He wants to be a news anchor, but is too ugly to do it. He hears that the surgery can be done in half a day, and he can become a "news anchor" by night time. He thinks that the surgeon must be joking. He also says that there have been a lot of complaints about the surgeon's practice, and the surgeons' faces have been washed off. He realizes that he made a mistake, and will use better products next time. Finally, the narrator gives his father a red envelope as a gift for the new year. It's a bunch of money, which the narrator calls a "stupid and poor fool."
