In this chapter, we learn that the Ming family is still trying to find their missing sister, Ming-Ming, who has been missing for a long time. The Ming family's patriarch, the Ming-Guang, is still alive, and he is trying to clear Ming's name. He is also trying to get Ming to marry him, but Ming refuses to let him touch her. The third aunt, who is also present at the scene, tells Ming that she knows that Ming and her parents have died, and the Mings don't bother looking for Ming even though she is missing. The aunt also tells the audience that Ming is rumored to have invited an evil god to the Ming household in hopes of overturning their fortune, and that the family was blown to pieces by the evil god's presence.
