This chapter opens with a discussion between liansheng and the Governess. The Governess is quite opinionated and has come from a family with a good reputation. She asks who he would choose between her and her daughter. . He replies that he likes her very much and that people who kill other people will be killed. He then goes on to explain that the hide and seek is forcing the people to kill each other. He also explains that the hospital is full of people and that there are twenty-four people in it. He compares the hospital to a parade and says that they will crown the clown with the hunchback and the pope with the wretched-looking face. He adds that they can hold out a few games with these and that he does not want to die yet.
