In this chapter, we learn that the doctor has found a way to perform the final surgery on the girl who was once his student. The girl is now called brenda, and the doctor tells her that she can't stay in the hospital because she's too different from the rest of the girls. She tells the girl that she has friends in the world who will come down on her and make fun of her. The doctor says that he's the most important person in the universe, and that he doesn't need to make himself any better. He says that she should just give up all of her pretty eyes and become a complete person. He tells her to get out of the hospital, because he'll have her burned alive if she stays. She says that the other girls just hate her because she is different, and they don't want her to stand up for herself. She feels sorry for herself because she was a coward, and she just wants to be loved.
