About This Chapter
The gang is looking for the princess' chambers, but they don't know where she is or what she's up to. They're worried that they'll look like they're invading the castle when they approach her, so they decide to look for her first. First, they find out that the princess has no family. She came to the castle from the desert, and she was fated to rule. She's fair and perfect, the gang says, and they can't imagine why she wouldn't want a kinder ruler. They wonder if the princess is a despot, or if she is just jealous. They also wonder if there are other women in the palace, and the gang wonders how many of them are competing for her favor. The gang asks the master vincent if he'll excuse them a moment to look around the princess chambers, and he says he's not sure if there's anything there. He's sure there is something there, but he doesn't buy the story that she just turned up at the door. He wonders if it's all broken glasses, and wonders if this is her "inner sanctuary," after all. He also wonders if they have time to loot after they've gone, and asks if they should keep their mission in mind. Everything seems to be covered in dust in the princess chamber, but everything is new and recently worn, so the princess will wish she had not left the ring lying around.
