About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the "fly trap" . It's just a keyhole that's been hidden in the wall of the building. The narrator says that it's not unusual for old buildings to be converted into houses. He tells us that Dinah's painting of Addie Clark has been hanging in her closet for a while now. He says that Dinah seems to have found an outlet for her "insatiable need for an outlet" , which is why she's hanging her painting in the first place. Dinah is so pretty in her dress, the narrator says, that the family won't stand by her side. They're here to open the vault, but they've got to eat some of the food in order to do so. Dinah says that she'll be in charge of the vault all the time, and that she and her brother are looking for a "girl named keeper" to hold the key. The two men are so excited to be back that they all start yelling at each other.
