At the party, the eldest son of the former jiang family, Mr. jiang, shows his younger brother the gift that he has given the old master. The elder jiang son is surprised to find that the gift is the "ecrutable blood jade" , a rare and expensive item. The younger jiang brother is also surprised to see the "blood jade" because he did not expect it to cost so much money. He asks the older jiang to sell the jade to him for a large sum of money so that he can continue to live in the family mansion. The two men sit down to have a drink before they go to greet the master. They are joined by the doctor, who has been looking for his brother for some time.
