In this chapter, Jack tries to convince the reader that burning star does not have any ulterior motives, and that they are merely trying to pry into its secrets. Jack explains that he trusts the reader because he has already told him that he is a reliable person, and he believes that the reader will unconsciously substitute his own evaluation of the other for Jack's. Jack tells the reader not to tell anyone about his plan to get information from burning star, and to use Jack to find out the details of the plan.
