The Governess is worried about her daughter's health and decides to go to the swimming pool instead of the tower. She asks the Governess if she's feeling well, and the girl says that she is. She tells her that her son, Gabriel, has been flirting with her, and that he's been shy because of the night she caught him with her daughter. She's worried that she won't be able to keep him away from her, so she tells him to go home and rest. When she gets home, she finds out that Gabriel is very thin, and she wonders if he is attracted to her. She thinks that he looks a lot like her daughter, and wonders why she is getting nervous about meeting him. She wonders why he looks more mature than she does, and then wonders if it's because the pool is full of light, which makes him look a lot more mature. She assumes that this is Gabriel's way of showing off his feminine side.
