The scene opens with a knock at the door of the apartment where the young man works. The young man, who has just returned from a trip to the seashore, is very excited to be back at work. He asks the young waiter if he remembers that the house he bought last year was on the sea view, and the waiter replies that he did, and that he plans to sell his current apartment and move to the sea, where he will be able to "get clinical depression in the future." The young waiter, however, is not interested in moving to the seaside, for he does not want to live in a house that is too far away from his work. When the waiter asks if he has had breakfast, he says that he has, but that he will have to wait until the next morning to eat breakfast. He then asks the waiter to arrange for him to have lunch and dinner, and he is very sorry for the mess he has made. He promises to clean up the mess and promises to give the waiter his hand.
