About This Chapter
Sofia asks her parents if they'd like her to stay with them for a while so that she can get used to being away from her family. She's worried that they'll freak out when they find out that she's been living with a drug dealer, but her parents insist that she stay and be with them as much as possible. She wants to do all the dishes, clean the house, and run errands, but she also wants to go to one of their parties, which she already knows she won't go to because she doesn't want her parents to see her. She also wants her dad to promise that he'll do whatever she wants, even if it means she'll have to leave the house and go to a party. But her parents are not going to listen to her anymore, so she tells them to calm down and go home. She tells her parents that she knows what they want, but that she just wants to get away from them. When her parents finally arrive, they ask her where the drug dealer is, and she says that her parents tricked them into believing that she was living with him. She then tells them that she lied to everyone and that she would never let them move so far away from home. Her parents are shocked, and they tell her that she should consider going back to school closer to home. But she refuses to think about it, saying that she wants to be with her family, not her friends. She says that she cares more about her family than she does about her, and that's why her parents don't trust her.
