About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he's going to eat lunch with Toomi. He's worried that if he doesn't come to school, the teacher won't praise him, and he'll skip school again. He tells us, however, that the teacher can't be lecturing him, because the teacher has a mole on his face and can speak through a microphone. So, if he puts on makeup and a wio, he could almost see the teacher as a friend. The narrator then tells us about how he'd like to talk to Toomi, but that he has to go back to school. He says that he wants to be friends with the teacher, but the teacher isn't there, so he should pretend to listen to the lesson instead. He also says that if the teacher catches on, he should be leaving the teacher alone, and that's what he does most of the time. So the narrator wants to talk about Toomi with her, but he cant believe that he actually wants to. He wants to tell her about how much he loves her, and how he wants her to be his friend. But the teacher is nowhere to be found, and the narrator has to leave. He asks the teacher if he wants him to mutter something to him. The teacher mutters something to the effect of, "i guess i would mind if you tutor me." The narrator is annoyed, but then he realizes that he needs to go to school anyway, so why not? He asks if he can talk to her as soon as he gets there.
