About This Chapter
The Duke of Castile tells his soldiers that he has killed most of them because of the "corrosive fog" that has enveloped them. He tells them that he sent many of them to kill them, but that they were lucky to escape. The Duchess of Castile, on the other hand, was burned to the ground. The Duke tells her that he is sorry for what he has done, and that he wishes he had not killed her parents and her friends. He asks her if she thinks it is too late for her to apologize, and she says that she has been regretting and feels bad for what she has done. She tells him that the men tried to kill her or take her throne, but she is still unharmed. He says that he will kill both of them so that they can go join their dead relatives
