About This Chapter
When the narrator wakes up, he's shocked to find out that his favorite soccer player, Edgar, has been accused of having an illegitimate child. He's also shocked to learn that all of his sponsors have withdrawn their support from him and his club. He asks selina to explain everything to Edgar's manager, but she refuses, saying that it's not his main purpose in life. She begs him to save her friend's career, but he says that this is all his fault, and that he can find other things to absorb his energy. He wonders if the pain in his heart is a sign that he has become more human, and wonders if this is because he is beginning to love human beings more. He tells her that he doesn't want her to remind him of her words, but that she should leave him alone. She tells him that she's sorry that they're bothering him, and asks him to make himself at home. She reminds him that he already suffered because of her, and she tells him to calm down. She also reminds him not to get too sad over his childishness, because it will only break her heart. He reminds her of a song about a crescent moon, which reminds her more of her son.
