In this chapter, we find out more about the monster's identity. We learn that he's called "black-eyed rock" and that his sister gave him the name "tick-tock-tick-tick tock" because she's afraid of him. We also learn that the monster has a high-fusion battery, which means that he can travel all over the place at the same time. He also tells us that they've been living in the village of mangosteen for about five years. Everyone is very friendly, but the village chief, "ghost muskdeer" , is terrifying. He's been living there for 50 years, and the only thing he left behind from his childhood is the fact that the village was almost massacred by a group of demons.
