About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a sword in the hands of "eight black divergent servants" . It's a cutter, and it's the same sword that's been used to behead people in the past. The narrator asks if this is the "reason behind beheading" , and the servants reply that they've always viewed killing without thinking about it as part of their "duty." They're not interested in anyone else's "reason" for being killed, and they don't care about anyone's motives either. This is the first time the narrator has seen a sword like this, and he asks the servants to find out their own reasons for killing people. The servants respond by saying they're too slow to deal with the problem at hand. They've been dealing with three different gangs in one day, so they should just deal with one gang at a time instead of dealing with all of them at once. They argue about whether or not they should pair up with one another, and one of the servants says that he likes to take things slow. The other servants chime in and say that they like to watch their show together, and that they can't wait to do so. They also say that the other servants are too slow, because they seem to be talking too much. They say that everyone talks too much, which is why they have to be quiet. They point out that they are the ones who talk the most in the eight whoosh, and not the other way around. They go on to say that many people want to step
