About This Chapter
The scene opens with a young boy looking for the "registration counter" , which is where people register their pets for the pet grand prix. The young boy is disappointed to find that the lady in question is dressed in sloppily. He calls her a "bad egg" and tells her that he is going to call for security. He tells the lady that he has been "rendered speechless" by her beauty and that he wants to participate in her beauty contest. The lady tells him that she cannot bring him into the arena because of the regulations, but the young boy insists that he must go anyway. He asks the lady where the professor is, and she tells him to look for him. He then asks the professor if his cat is "purebred" and the lady says that the competition is not for "low-end cats" because his cat's blood shares the lineage of the British royals's cat, a purebred shorthair.
