About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's on his way to meet a friend of his who wants to buy a new house for his wife. He's got a special offer for her: he'll sell her the house for 40 percent off. The narrator is all, "Oh, you're so generous. I'll give it to you for free!" . But then the narrator says, "You know, I came here because I'm sure you'd do it!" , and then he tells the narrator that he has a big order for the house, so he needs to come back and pick it up. Sounds like the narrator's going to have to go back to the drawing board to pick out which house to buy. He wants to sign the papers, but the narrator wants to make sure he gets some water and refreshments before he leaves. He tells her to wait while he goes out to pick up the house. He then tells her that the house looks nice, and he and the narrator can buy it with the money they've just gotten from their rich grandpa. He also tells her about how they can buy the house in full with their grandpa's money. He goes on to say that it's nice to marry someone who can spend so much money on extravagant things for you. He says that this is a good thing, because it means that you can marry a rich guy who can afford to buy extravagant houses. She's sorry, but she's not buying the house because it was a gift from her husband's friend. The friend of her husband is the president of a real estate company. He gave her this house because he thought it would be a good first sight gift for her. She says that she'll make her husband lose the baby if he tries to talk to her on his high horse. She then tells him to hurry up and get to the hospital ASAP.
